ZIRCON COATINGS

Zirconia Veneers are one of the most popular types of aesthetic dental crowns widely used in contemporary dentistry. They have both high aesthetic value and great mechanical strength, so they can be used not only on front teeth, but also on areas subject to high loads, such as molars.

At Vivyan Dental Center Turkey, our specialist dentists work in great collaboration with our dental technicians. Zirconia veneers are prepared in the shortest possible time in our clinic’s in-house laboratory, which is equipped with state-of-the-art 3D design and milling devices.

Zirconia Veneers can be prepared in three different ways:

  • Porcelain Coated Zirconia Veneers
  • Monolithic Zirconia Veneers
  • Multilayer Zirconia Inlays
  • Porcelain Veneered Zirconia Inlays

It is one of the most popular types of aesthetic dental veneers, consisting of layers of porcelain applied over a zirconia base. Zirconia is a strong white metal and can be used without additional porcelain, but it may not provide the excellent aesthetic results offered by porcelain. For this reason, a combination of porcelain and zirconia is more commonly used in aesthetically important areas. In this combination, the zirconia base ensures durability and the porcelain layers offer great aesthetic values.

Monolithic Zirconia Veneers

They are made entirely of zirconia blocks without additional porcelain layers. Zirconia blocks are sold in homogeneous or multi-layered form. Multi-layered zirconia crowns offer the perfect natural aesthetics compared to homogeneous zirconia crowns because their transparency is similar to a natural tooth.

Zirconia can also be used without additional layers of porcelain, but it may not provide the excellent aesthetic results offered by porcelain. For this reason, at Estetik İncim Dental Center in Turkey, we generally use a combination of porcelain and zirconia more commonly in aesthetic cases. In this combination, the zirconia base ensures durability and the porcelain layers offer great aesthetic values.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are zirconia inlays prepared?

We prepare Zirconia Veneers by milling fully contoured zirconia blocks on cad glass devices or by coating a porcelain layer on the front surface of the solid zirconia base to enhance its aesthetic properties. In addition, multi-layered full-contour zirconia blocks offer aesthetic results almost as perfect as a natural tooth. Both full-contour zirconia and porcelain-coated zirconia veneers offer high aesthetic results. However, porcelain-coated zirconia veneers can be slightly less durable than full contoured zirconia veneers because they have an additional layer bonded to them.

Unlike full porcelain crowns and PFM crowns, zirconia crowns can only be prepared with certain types of 3D milling devices. Most clinics use external laboratories for the preparation of these crowns. Therefore, it is difficult for these clinics to collaborate with dental technicians during the design of the final product. At Estetik İncim Dental Center Turkey, our expert dentists and dental technicians collaborate in our internal laboratory during the design and milling phase of zirconia crowns.

How many days should I stay in Turkey for zirconia crowns?

At Vivyan Dental Clinic Turkey, we complete a complete smile makeover (8 upper jaws and 8 lower jaws) with fully contoured Zirconia Porcelain Veneers in just 4 days. We ask our patients to stay an extra day for a follow-up appointment before returning home. Therefore, a total of 5 full days are required for the Porcelain Veneered Zirconia Smile Makeover in the clinic. Depending on the number of teeth included in the treatment plan, the treatment may take 1 day shorter or longer than this time.

What is it used for?

Porcelain Veneered Zirconia Veneers are our gold standard for smile makeovers and aesthetic conditions. Porcelain Veneered Zirconia Veneers can be used for the following conditions;

Mild to moderate tooth crowding in the front teeth. If the teeth are healthy and in good shape, orthodontic treatment should be considered first.

  • Smile makeover cases.
  • Teeth with large and deep cavities.
  • Teeth that have been heavily restored in the past.
  • Broken teeth.
  • Diastema closure (gaps between teeth).

Advantages and disadvantages of zirconia coatings

Advantages of Porcelain Coated Zirconia Veneers:

  • Excellent aesthetics. Our technicians use multi-layered porcelain layers on top of the zirconia base to achieve highly aesthetic and natural results.
  • More durable than laminated veneers. Can be used in short partially edentulous areas as a bridge to replace missing teeth.
  • Can correct mild to moderate tooth crowding.
  • Provides good support to severely damaged teeth.

Disadvantages of Porcelain Veneered Zirconia Veneers:

  • Requires removing extra tooth tissue around the visible tooth.
  • It is an irreversible process.
  • Teeth may require root canal treatment, especially when correcting moderate tooth crowding.

What are the process stages of zirconia veneers?

Vivyan Dental Clinic in Turkey completes full contour zirconia veneers in just 3 days and porcelain veneers in 4 days. However, we recommend our patients to stay an extra night for the final check and this night is included in the offer price. We have explained the appointments in detail below.

1- First Appointment: Tooth Preparation and Impression Taking

Before starting tooth preparation, our dentists apply a local anesthetic to avoid any pain or discomfort. Once numbness is achieved within 5 to 10 minutes, our dentists begin to reduce the tooth surfaces. Extra care is taken during this procedure to prevent damage to the dental pulp due to over-reduction or overheating. This process takes about 5 to 10 minutes for each tooth.

Once our dentists have completed the tooth preparation stage, they take impressions of your teeth with silicone-based impression materials. We then transfer your impressions to our internal laboratory.

Once this stage is complete, our team will drop you off at your hotel and let you sleep to complete the treatment.

2- 3D Design and Temporary Veneers

Temporary crowns are plastic prototypes of permanent zirconia crowns. Your teeth can be very sensitive after tooth preparation. For this reason, we make the temporary crowns ready the same evening of the first appointment.

Once the laboratory has taken an impression of your teeth, the digital scanning phase begins. This stage allows us to digitize the actual model of your prepared teeth. The scanning phase follows to make a 3D design of your temporary teeth on the computer. Our dentists and dental technicians collaborate during the design phase to produce the temporary crowns in perfect harmony with your highly aesthetic and robust teeth. Our patients are welcome to attend this stage to express any special requests they may have about their teeth.

3- Second Appointment: Mock-Up Phase

On the evening of the first visit, the dentist cements temporary veneers to your teeth. The temporary veneers give us an idea of how the final zirconia veneers will look on your teeth. This stage allows us to evaluate the appearance of the temporary veneers and make any necessary corrections as requested by our patients. Once we achieve the desired look, we transfer it to the permanent zirconia veneer design.

4- Third Appointment: Zirconia Infrastructure Rehearsal

At this appointment, we will remove the temporary veneers and evaluate the zirconia substructure to assess its suitability for your teeth. We will examine for possible premature contact and make any necessary corrections. This process usually takes 15 to 45 minutes. After that, our dentists re-cement the temporary crowns and send the zirconia substructure to our in-house laboratory. If we are producing full-contour zirconia crowns, we skip this stage.

Of course, here is the translation:

5- Fourth Appointment: Permanent Cementation of Zirconia Crowns

Our expert dental technicians apply a porcelain layer on top of the zirconia substructure for aesthetic enhancement. Once this is completed in the laboratory, we place your crowns on your teeth without cementing them. We assess their fit and check them one last time to make any adjustments before cementing the permanent crown.

After cementation, we double check the early contacts, as patients feel better after permanent cementation.

6- Fifth Appointment: Final Check

We advise our patients to stay one more night so that we can make extra adjustments if necessary.
