What is Sinus Lift (Lifting)?
Sinuses are air-filled cavities located on both sides of the nose. These cavities affect the implant to be applied to missing teeth in the upper jaw. If the sinuses are close to the upper jaw and more bone is needed for implant treatment, sinus liftingsurgery is performed.
The jawbone in this region is thinner than the other region. Therefore, the bone volume required for implant treatment may not be available in the first stage. However, the sinus membrane is moved upwards to make room for additional bone in this limited area. This treatment is called sinus lift treatment. It allows the existing bone volume to be increased by lifting the sinus floor with different techniques. Strong and healthy bone is obtained after this application.
Tested and successful methods are used in sinus lifting treatments. Before starting this application, radiographic examination and clinical examination are performed by our dentists. The amount of bone required from the radiographic image is calculated millimetrically and sinus lifting is applied accordingly. The location and size of the implant is determined before starting the treatment. This procedure is performed by a dental, oral and maxillofacial surgeon under local anesthesia in our clinic.
Before the application, an incision is made along the gum in the determined area and the bone is made visible. Depending on the amount of bone present, sinus litting is performed with an application called closed or open technique. During the procedure, different biomaterials such as PRF, bone powder are applied to the area and thus it is aimed to accelerate the healing by increasing the amount of bone. Although the amount of material used in the procedure varies according to the individual, it is important to support the bone that will replace the sinus. This is where the bone augmentation part of the procedure comes in. Implant treatment can be performed in the same session. However, the prosthesis on the implant needs to wait for an average of 3 months. After the procedure, sutures are applied and the area is closed. Our patient will be prescribed antibiotics as well as painkillers. You can always call us for more detailed information and to solve your dental and oral health problems.
