Treatment of excess gums seen when smiling
Excessive gingival exposure with a smile, a condition in which the gums show too much when you smile, can be caused by a short upper lip, strong smile muscles, short crown length or excessive gum tissue. While some people welcome this condition because it makes their smile a little more friendly, most people would like to get rid of it. Fortunately, the condition of excess gingiva with a slight smile can be corrected with 2 simple procedures in a single appointment.
Causes of gingival overgrowth:
- Strong Smile Muscles
- Enlarged Gums
- Short tooth crowns
- Bone-related causes
- Short upper lip
Treatment of excess gingival exposure caused by strong smile muscles
In case of excessive gums accompanied by strong smile muscles, we aim to weaken these muscles and treat them. At Estetik İncim Dental Center Turkey, we do this by injecting botulinum toxin into the smile muscles that pull the lips up excessively. Only certain muscles are affected by the injection, so it will not affect your smile in any negative way. The effects of botulinum toxin start 1 week after the injection and last between 6 months and 1 year.
