However, there are other types of implants, such as the relatively new Zirconium Dental Implant, which do not have as many studies and long-term results as titanium implants.

Dental implants are used to replace missing, loose or severely damaged teeth. They offer an excellent long-term solution for completely or partially edentulous jaws. As a single crown or an implant-supported bridge, dental implants restore both function and aesthetics.

We often receive the request “remove all my teeth and replace them with implants”. However, we want it to be understood that removing a tooth with good/healthy bone support just for aesthetic reasons or pain is quite unnecessary and a bad idea.

All On Four Concept

The All-On-4 concept is an affordable alternative to other full mouth implant options. Under this concept, a full mouth denture or fixed bridge is supported by 4 implants placed in the jawbone. The All-On-4 concept also allows dentists and patients to avoid advanced implant procedures such as sinus floor lifting and inferior alveolar nerve lateralization.

All On Six and All On Eight Concept

All-On-6 is a full-mouth dental implant concept consisting of a fixed bridge supported by 6 dental implants placed in a single jaw. According to this concept, each implant is subjected to a lower amount of occlusal stress during chewing and grinding compared to the all-on-4 concept. Depending on the positioning of the implants, advanced dental implant procedures may be required for this concept.

Implant Supported Veneers and Bridges

Replacing a missing tooth with a dental implant brings many advantages over replacing a dental bridge. When replacing a missing tooth with a dental bridge, the anterior and posterior teeth of the missing tooth must be drilled to function as bridge abutments. This is quite acceptable when the ‘abutment’ teeth are already damaged. However, if the teeth next to the missing tooth are completely healthy, the bridge option may be unnecessarily invasive. In this case, the missing tooth can be restored with a single dental implant without causing any damage to the adjacent teeth.

In addition to being a more conservative option compared to other options, a single dental implant option costs almost the same as a 3-unit dental bridge.

Treatment Processes

Each patient’s jaw structure is different and there is no standardized treatment time for dental implant treatment in Turkey. Dental Implant procedures can be completed in a single visit in Turkey or may require multiple visits at intervals of at least 3 months. We usually need about 10 days if the treatment is to be completed in a single visit. In cases requiring multiple visits, including full jaw implants, the first visit in Turkey can be completed in as little as 2 days.

While we place the implants and provide temporary prosthesis the next day, we recommend our patients to stay a few more days instead of going straight back to their country. Our patients should not worry about hotel costs for the additional days, as 5-star accommodation and private car transfers are among our complimentary services.

Our dentists consider many factors when planning dental implant visits, including but not limited to

  • Bone Quality
  • Number of Implants
  • Single Jaw or Double Jaw
  • Systemic Diseases (Diabetes, Bone diseases, Heart Conditions and more)
  • Primary Stability of Implants
  • Advanced Implant Procedures

Example of a visit plan for full-jaw dental implants in Turkey, in the absence of a systemic disease and average bone quality:

  • First Visit (6 Days): Implants + Temporary Prosthesis (if applicable)
  • Second Visit (8 Days): 3 months after the first visit. The permanent bridge will be provided at this visit.

Customized treatment plans will be offered by our dentists after an online consultation during the proposal phase.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dental implants are one of the most reliable treatment options for replacing missing teeth. They are made of titanium and are biocompatible. Dental implants are inserted into the jawbone and used as a core, which is then covered with a crown or denture.

What are the components of a dental implant?

A dental implant consists of two main parts and an artificial tooth. These parts are called the body and the abutment of the dental implant. Body The body is the main part of the dental implant that will be placed inside the jawbone. The implant body fuses with the jawbone and carries the abutment. Abutment: The abutment is the part that is mounted to the implant body. This can be thought of as a connector that provides the connection between the implant body and the crown or denture. Artificial Tooth: This is the only visible part of the dental implant. It is screwed into the implant abutment.

Will I have pain during implant surgery?

Dental Implant procedures are performed under local anesthesia. Once the jaw is numb, patients do not feel any pain during the implant placement process. Moreover, most of our patients say that they feel no pain after the surgery.

How long do surgical procedures take?

A single Dental Implant procedure takes about 15-20 minutes after anesthesia. Full Jaw Dental Implant surgery can take up to 3 hours.

Should I have my teeth extracted and replaced with dental implants?

Many people consider removing all their healthy teeth and replacing them with an implant bridge supported by porcelain-metal or zirconia crowns. But extracting a tooth should be the last option for solving dental problems. No dental prosthesis will feel as comfortable and natural as a healthy tooth. Of course, dental implants are the best option for replacing a missing, loose or severely damaged tooth. But that doesn’t mean they are more comfortable than your natural tooth.

How long should I wait after implant surgery?

The fusion process between a dental implant and the jawbone takes about 3 months on average. During this time you will wear temporary dentures. Also, if the quality of the jawbone is good, we will fit the dentures and crowns during the first visit. This is a common procedure that we successfully perform on our patients with healthy jawbones.

Fusion time can be influenced by factors such as the patient’s medical conditions and the technology used for the implant surface. Especially for diabetic patients, the fusion time may increase.

There are different techniques, such as PRGF, which we commonly use in many cases to decrease the fusion time and increase bone formation at the implantation site.

How many times do I need to come to Turkey for dental implants?

You may need to visit Turkey once or twice. This depends on the quality of the jawbone and the number of dental implants.

We can complete the whole process in one visit. This procedure is called immediate loading. If our dentists find it convenient, we aim to complete the treatment in one visit.

If you need to visit twice, we will leave you with no teeth. We provide free temporary dentures the day after the surgery. On your second visit, which must be at least 3 months after the first visit, we will remove these temporary dentures and fit the new bridge. The second visit can be completed within 4 days.

How long do I need to stay in Turkey for dental implants?

For the placement of multiple dental implants, we recommend our patients to stay for 8 to 10 days. However, depending on the condition of the jawbone, the treatment can be completed earlier or later than this. When we prepare a treatment plan, we provide our patients with detailed information about the required length of stay.

Is it possible to get a dental implant in one day?

As Vivyan Dental Clinic, we often provide our patients with dental implants on the same day. After placing the implants, we take impressions in the same session and start preparing your teeth in our dental laboratory. Our in-clinic dental laboratory completes the work within 24 hours and your temporaries are fitted the day after the implant surgery. You can read more about same day dental implants in our blog posts.

Will my face swell after dental implant surgery?

It is difficult to say yes or no to this question. It is possible to have facial swelling for a few days after complex surgical procedures and multiple implant placements. This also depends on the patient’s habits and medical condition. A large percentage of our patients report no postoperative swelling or pain.
